New English Medium School, Secondary Section organized a “Meet the Scientist” activity for the students of Classes VIII and IX with the support of Sharada Shakti Foundation. The programme aimed to promote scientific temper, research awareness, and environmental consciousness among students.

The programme began with the welcome and introductory remarks by Mrs. Kalyani Nizampurkar. The event was compered by Ms. Anushka More. Dr. Ujjwala Mate explained the purpose of the programme and introduced the activities of Sharada Shakti Foundation. The introduction of the guest scientist was given by Mrs. Lalitagauri Dange.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Shubhangi Umbarkar, Scientist at CSIR–National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune. She spoke about the importance of scientific research and explained her project on dissolving Plaster of Paris (POP) idols, which contribute significantly to water pollution during idol immersion. Her lecture highlighted the role of chemistry in developing environmentally sustainable solutions.

The session was highly informative and inspiring, and students actively participated in the interaction. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Archit Jadhav, Assistant Head Boy.

The activity proved to be a valuable learning experience that encouraged students to develop curiosity, scientific thinking, and environmental awareness.
