Storytelling Competition Inspires Young Minds

New English Medium School, Shaniwar Peth successfully organized an Inter-Class Storytelling Competition for the students of Standard VIII on 18th July 2026. The competition was conducted in both the morning and afternoon shifts with great enthusiasm and active participation.

The theme of the competition was "Inspirational or Historical Stories." The participants captivated the audience with their confident narration, expressive voice modulation, effective gestures, and meaningful use of props. Each story conveyed a valuable message, inspiring the listeners to develop qualities such as courage, honesty, patriotism, perseverance, and determination.

The competition was judged by Mrs. Charuta Prabhudesai, an  educationist. She appreciated the students for their confidence, creativity, and sincere efforts. During her interaction with the participants, she shared valuable tips to help them become effective storytellers. She advised students to understand the story thoroughly before narrating it, maintain proper eye contact with the audience, speak clearly with appropriate voice modulation, use facial expressions and body language effectively, avoid memorising the story word for word, and conclude with a meaningful moral. She also encouraged students to read regularly, observe skilled storytellers, and practise consistently to enhance their storytelling skills.

A prize distribution ceremony was held immediately after the competition. Three winners each from Class VIII-A and Class VIII-B were selected and honoured for their outstanding performances. The winners were awarded with prizes, amidst loud applause from the audience, making the occasion memorable and encouraging for all participants.

The competition proved to be an enriching learning experience that enhanced the students' communication skills, imagination, creativity, confidence, and stage presence. It also instilled in them an appreciation for inspiring personalities and significant historical events.

Incharge Principal, teachers, and students congratulated all the participants for their commendable performances and expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Charuta Prabhudesai for her valuable guidance and encouraging words. The event concluded on a joyful and inspiring note, motivating students to continue developing the art of storytelling.
